What's Love Got To Do With It?

As you know from my website, I’ve have spent my entire working life in education. I am hugely committed to finding ways to help every child I meet thrive and succeed.

Education is often linked to knowledge, discipline, and achievement, but at its heart, it should also be about love - love for learning, love for connection, and love for growth. When love is present in education, it shapes a child’s experience in profound ways.

If your child is struggling at school, it might be helpful to look at their experience through the lens of love.

Do they feel seen, valued, and supported? Love in education means recognising each child as a whole person, not just their grades or behaviour. A school environment rooted in care and respect helps children feel emotionally secure, making them more open to learning and more resilient in the face of challenges.

Strong relationships come before results. A child who feels genuinely cared for by their teachers is more likely to engage, take risks, and push through difficulties. Love in education isn’t about lowering expectations—it’s about setting high standards with patience, encouragement, and belief in a child’s potential.

Teaching is a demanding job, but it’s also one of deep purpose. When love is at the centre of education, it fosters confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong passion for learning.
